Trailblazers: Meeting Women in Law 2010
The OJEN is pleased to partner with the LEAF and the LAWS Program to offer Trailblazers: Meeting Women in Law, a day-long educational opportunity on Friday October 29, 2010.
The day begun with the opportunity for students to hear the keynote address by Deena Ladd at LEAF's annual Persons Day Breakfast. An influential Activist, Ms. Ladd has worked tirelessly to improve working conditions for low-wage earners and immigrant women who are often the most marginalized and vulnerable in society.
Thanks to the donation of seats by many of the attending law firms, unions, organizations and individuals, students were hosted at a sponsored table and were able to connect with female legal professionals. There was a mentor reception for students immediately following the breakfast, as well as opportunities throughout the day for students to connect with women working in law to visit the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto, and a local law firm.
