Actus reus

<p>Before convicting an accused person, the Crown must prove two things, first, that the accused person did the act that constituted the criminal activity, and second, that the accused person had the intention (i.e. guilty mind or mens rea) to do so. Actus reus is the Latin term that refers to the first component &ndash; doing the illegal act.</p>
