The Program has been developed to connect representatives from high schools, colleges, universities, community organizations and the justice sector. In the past, attendees have come from all over the province and from outside of the province.

Law Day

Law Day celebrations were initiated by the Canadian Bar Association to mark the signing of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in April 1982, with the aim of promoting public understanding of the justice system, and the role of lawyers and judges in guaranteeing an open and independent justice system.

Law Institutes for Teachers

OJEN Law Institutes provide teachers with an exceptional professional development opportunity in a forum for learning, dialogue and exchange with leaders at the forefront of the legal system. Teachers are given an opportunity to participate in presentations and discussions with judges, lawyers, academics and community activists about timely legal issues that enhance classroom teaching and learning.

Navigating the Justice System

The Ontario Justice Education Network (OJEN) is offering capacity development training sessions.  While OJEN offers programs for youth, NAVIGATING THE JUSTICE SYSTEM is a professional development opportunity specifically geared to enhance the capacity of youth workers, front line practitioners and student success teachers on the justice system.

The Ontario Justice Education Network Chief Justices' Award has been established by Ontario's three Chief Justices (Ontario Court of Appeal, Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice) to recognize an individual who has made an exceptional contribution in promoting public understanding, education or dialogue in support of a responsive and inclusive justice system through activities including:

OJEN Lennox Award

In honour of former Chief Justice Brian Lennox's role as a founding Director of the Ontario Justice Education Network, and in recognition of his personal commitment to justice education in Ontario, the justices of the Ontario Court of Justice have created an endowment for OJEN's Lennox Award for Innovation in Justice Education in Ontario's East Region.

OJEN/LFO Mock Trial Fund

In 2008, OJEN and the Law Foundation of Ontario (LFO) partnered to launch a Mock Trial Fund that provides financial support and other resources to the ever expanding roster of mock trial events across Ontario.

The OJEN/LFO Mock Trial Fund aims for an equitable distribution of funds and a simple application process. Grants are based on factors including event size, and need, as determined by the OJEN/LFO Mock Trial Fund. Applications from existing mock trial events and those supporting new mock trial events are welcome.
